Mark Reynolds and strikeouts

Mark Reynolds has already struck out 147 times this year.  He is on pace to break his major league record of 223 strikeouts which he set last year.  It would be the third straight year he has topped 200 strikeouts.  Reynolds is the only player to ever top the 200 mark.
In 1938 Vince DiMaggio set a major league record when he struck out 134 times for the Boston Bees.  That figure was topped by 24 players in 2009.
With the high strikeout totals over the years, it raises one question.  How high can the total go?  It would take a powerful hitter, such as Reynolds, or a  player defensively good enough to offset his strikeouts. It could reach 250 or more.
