Clayton Kershaw left last night’s game against the Phillies leading 9-2. The bullpen blew the game as the Phillies scored four runs in the eighth and four runs in the ninth off Ronald Belisario and Jonathan Broxton. The Dodgers lost the game 10-9!
This is not the first time the bullpen has cost Kershaw wins this season.
April 24: Broxton leaves the game with a 3-2 lead. The Nats score a run off of Ramon Troncoso to tie the game. Dodgers win 4-3 in thirteen innings.
June 4: Kershaw leaves the game with a lead against the Braves. Hong-Chih Kuo blows the lead and then gets the win as the Dodgers win the game
June 27: Kershaw pitches seven innings leaving the game with a 6-2 lead. The Yankees score six runs off Broxton, Troncoso and George Sherrill and the Yankees win 8-6.
July 20: Kershaw leaves the game leading after six innings. The Giants score three runs off Broxton and the Giants beat the Dodgers.
If the Dodgers had the Broxton of last year or Eric Gagne in his prime, Kershaw’s record would be around 14-7, instead of 10-7.
